VisionLink: Unified Suite
The VisionLink Unified Suite is a suite of 7 applications that deal with the management, productivity, and health/service of your construction fleet from the comfort of your office, rather than on the job site. We utilize data taken from heavy construction equipment and the like to provide answers to many questions within the project’s life cycle. The apps are Administrator, Fleet, Productivity, 3D Productivity Manager, Landfill, Service, and Support. These apps are available with subscriptions and are supported in 26 different languages. Below is just an overview of the products I worked with. I will dive into specific apps, epics, and features in other “work” samples.
These are the site maps we documented at the beginning of each app. These outline the basic user journey from page to page and what those pages entail.

And here are the main page views in production.
For the first 4 years of my VisionLink career, I worked for the Trimble portion of the VSS joint venture, and for the last year and a half+, I have worked for the Caterpillar portion. The UI had been designed before I was onboarded, but I was most specifically focused on utilizing that design library to create the 3D Productivity Manager experience, and then to maintain the other apps in the suite once I was the lead. We had a few redesigns underway, all of which were not developed before Caterpillar bought out the JV. They decided to retire the application to replace it with a new CAT-branded experience which I am currently leading and its first phase will soon be released. VL will be retired in 2021-2022.
Specific challenges: 1) Consistency across apps both in UX and UI. 2) Introducing global features and getting the developers to code them as reusable components. 3) Integrating Administrator functionality to the rest of the suite. 4) Working with an older, clunky UI. 5) The biggest - working for a joint venture and getting both parents to align on requirements.
Most of what I do with VisionLink is under NDA. I am happy to personally walk anyone through my work as long as you are not a competitor and agree not to record or screen capture anything I show you.
